JGP Concludes Environmental Impact Assessments on the Transmission Lines that will Interconnect the Madeira River Hydropower Plants to Brazil’s Inteconnected System (May 2010)

The Environmental Impact Assessments of the two transmission lines that will interconnect the Santo Antonio and Jirau hydropower projects in the Madeira River (approximately 6,500 MW total capacity) to Brazil’s interconnected grid at Araraquara in the State of Sao Paulo, were submitted to IBAMA in April, 2010. With nearly 5,000 km (2,345 km each line), this is the largest transmission system under implementation in Brazil. JGP was part of a four member joint venture responsible for both EIAs.
