JGP Conducts Environmental and Social Audit of the Impact Assessment of an Oil Pipeline in the Peruvian Amazon (November 2012)JGP was retained by a multinational oil company (confidential client) with an oil and gas concession in the Peruvian Amazon, frontier with Ecuador. The project consists of a 110 km pipeline that intercepts pristine natural areas as well as the territory of 2 indigenous groups. A detailed review of the ongoing Environmental and Social Impact Assessment was conducted, including a gap analysis with respect to IFC Environmental and Social Performance Standard No 6 (Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Management of Living Natural Resources) and No 7 (Indigenous Peoples). Recommendations for complementary biodiversity baseline development and improved consultation with indigenous groups ensued.
