JGP becomes Approved Verifier under the Climate Bonds Standard for the LAC y Africa Regions | October 2023
As of August 2023 JGP has become an Approved Verifier of the Climate Bonds Initiative – CBI. As such, we are one of the few environmental consultancies authorized to issue Second Professional Opinions (SPO) about green bonds issued for projects / assets in Latin America and Africa. CBI is the international entity certifying validity of green claims by green bonds worldwide. JGP sees in the green bond market a strategic space to expand its role as an ESG advisor to financial transactions, an area in which we have been active for over 20 years, conducting environmental and social due diligence and independent monitoring for Lenders providing finance to very diverse sectors, including infrastructure, manufacturing and agriculture / agribusiness. We are currently one of the leading advisors in ESG transaction support in Latin America and in parts of Africa, with a client-base including over 30 international financial institutions. We are able to act either supporting green bond issuers in the structuring of investment portfolios that meet CBI eligibility criteria and guidelines, or alternatively as verifyers, validating bond alignment and issuing the SPO that is a condition precedent to certification by CBI.
