Large buildings raise significant environmental and social issues, particularly in densely urbanized locations. Environmental legislation in Brazil generally requires thorough neighborhood impact studies and environmental impact assessments can also be required in some cases. Construction processes require special environmental control measures which are subject to close scrutiny by municipal authorities and neighbors.

JGP has concluded Environmental and Social Impact Assessments on several large shopping center, major residential condominiums and commercial buildings.

Construction environmental management and monitoring services have been retained on four shopping centers in the cities of São Paulo, Campinas and Curitiba. Two of these are among the largest in Brazil.

Construction environmental management services have also been provided on a variety of commercial buildings, in particular where significant earth movement is involved.

Construction waste management plans are a legal requirement in Brazil and JGP is assisting several clients in the real estate sector to comply with this.
